Blanchfield Blacksmith Shop
Blanchfield Blacksmith Shop
3260 Blanchfield Rd.
Osgoode, Ontario
Built in 1890, and operated by Charles Blanchfield until his death in 1937, it then passed to John Richard Blanchfield, (my grandfather - a distant cousin of Charles), and later, to his son Ernie Blanchfield, in 1939.
Although it is not a working shop now, it filled a much-needed service of providing Horseshoes, wagon wheel hoops and repairs for many years.
I have tried to capture some of the character of the shop in this rendering, which I completed in 1995.
